Ndidi shines as Leicester City crush Southampton 5-0

Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, continued his impressive form by finding the net for the second consecutive game as Leicester City thrashed Southampton 5-0 in a scintillating matchday 44 encounter at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday night.

Ghana international Issahaku Fatawu opened the scoring for the Foxes in the 25th minute. Ndidi doubled Leicester’s lead in the 62nd minute with a powerful header, connecting with Stephy Mavidi’s precise cross.

Remarkably, this marked Ndidi’s third career goal against Southampton, making them his favourite opponent to score against since turning professional.

Fatawu secured his brace with another impressive strike, driving a thunderous shot past Alex McCarthy to extend Leicester’s lead.

James Vardy added to Southampton’s woes, slotting the ball into the bottom right corner from close range in the 79th minute.

Fatawu then completed his hat-trick, sealing the emphatic victory with a goal nine minutes into stoppage time.

Ndidi’s goal in this match propelled him to equal his best-ever goal tally in a season, with six goals across all competitions, matching his record from the 2016/2017 season.

The clash between Championship leaders Leicester and Southampton proved pivotal for both teams, with Ndidi’s impactful performance once again highlighting his importance to the Foxes’ midfield.
