Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed he will speak with Alejandro Garnacho after the Argentine forward stormed down the tunnel following his first-half substitution in United’s 3-2 victory over Ipswich on Wednesday.
Garnacho’s Abrupt Exit Sparks Controversy
Garnacho was sacrificed in the 37th minute after Patrick Dorgu’s red card forced a tactical reshuffle, with Noussair Mazraoui replacing him as Amorim switched to a defensive 5-3-1 setup.

Rather than taking a seat on the bench, the 20-year-old headed straight to the dressing room, sparking boos from United fans at Old Trafford.
Garnacho later fueled speculation about his frustration by posting an Instagram story showing him walking dejectedly through the rain after the match.
Amorim played down the incident but admitted he would discuss the matter with Garnacho.
“It was cold and wet, maybe,” Amorim joked when asked about Garnacho’s exit.
“We had to make a decision. I know it’s a risk to take out the only player with one-on-one pace, but I felt we were controlling the game. We had to think about set pieces too, so it was my choice.”
Dorgu’s Red Card
While Garnacho’s reaction dominated headlines, Amorim refused to criticize Dorgu, who endured a nightmarish first half.
The 20-year-old’s defensive mix-up with André Onana gifted Ipswich their opening goal, and he was later sent off for a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson after a VAR review.
Despite the setbacks, United fought back with goals from Sam Morsy (own goal), Matthijs de Ligt, and Harry Maguire, securing Amorim just his fifth Premier League win in charge.
“When Ipswich scored, everyone was thinking, ‘Here we go again,’” Amorim admitted.
“But we fought through all the challenges, and I think we truly deserved the three points.”
