Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has initiated a cabinet reshuffle amidst the ongoing political crisis rocking the state.
The announcement came via a statement released on Tuesday night by the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo.
As part of the reshuffle, two commissioners known for their allegiance to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, have been reassigned.
Former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor SAN, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office).
Similarly, the former Commissioner for Finance, Isaac Kamalu, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
The statement instructed the affected officials to facilitate a smooth handover process to their respective permanent secretaries, with immediate effect.
‘Cabinet Reshuffle,’ reads, “His Excellency, the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has approved a minor cabinet reshuffle thus:
“Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor SAN, the former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice is now deployed to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office).
“Barr. Isaac Kamalu, the former Commissioner for Finance, is now deployed to the Ministry of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment.
“They are to hand over to their respective Permanent Secretaries immediately as this deployment takes immediate effect.
“All hand-over processes must be completed immediately.”
Both Adangor and Kamalu were among nine commissioners who resigned from Fubara’s cabinet amidst the political crisis that engulfed the state.
The rift stemmed from a prolonged feud between former Governor Wike and his successor, Fubara.
Following President Bola Tinubu’s intervention, an eight-point truce was brokered, compelling Fubara to reappoint the resigned commissioners.
The statement did not clarify whether Emeka Woke, a staunch ally of Wike who previously held the position of Commissioner for Special Duties, has been removed from his post.
Despite serving as a commissioner in Fubara’s administration, Woke has openly criticized the current government at various events. He previously served as Chief of Staff to Wike during the latter’s tenure as governor.
