PDP screens Atiku, Wike, Anyim, others

Presidential aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Friday, took turns to appear before the screening committee headed by the former Senate President, David Mark.

As of the time of filling in this report, five of the aspirants, including Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki, Pius Anyim, Ayo Fayose, Udom Emmanuel and Nyesom Wike, had been screened at the Legacy House, Maitama office of the Party.

First to appear before the screening committee which commenced the exercise by 10.30 am was former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, followed by the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Speaking with Journalists after his screening, Governor Wike described it as a “ litmus test” , adding however, that he is sure to scale the screening.

Governor Udom Emmanuel on his part, said he will stand by the party’s decision on the issue of zoning, as according to him, “ the party is supreme” . Ayo Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State, however insisted that the party will be better appreciated if it zones the 2023 Presidency to the south.

“I stand by my position on the issue of zoning. Although I am aware that the party is yet to make any official pronouncements on the issue, but , I believe it is in the interest of natural Justice and Fair play to zone the 2023 Presidency to the South,” Fayose said.

As of the time of filing in the report, former Governor of Ananbra state and front runner for the PDP Presidential ticket, Peter Obi was still awaiting his turn to be screened.
