Ondo 2020: Mammoth crowd welcome Jegede, PDP in Ondo

Ahead of the Saturday governorship election in Ondo State, the National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus has tasked the people of the state, particularly eligible voters to vote out the ruling Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and All Progressives Congress (APC).

Secondus made the call Wednesday at the grand finale campaign of the party held in Ondo City, the headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, the opposition party, PDP, mobilised strongly to defeat APC in the last governorship election in Ondo State. He said the party had failed Nigerians woefully at all levels.

Secondus, who blamed the Akeredolu APC administration and its supporters for the recurring violence in the state, added that Governor Akeredolu and his supporters were jittery of the growing popularity of the PDP candidate, Eyitayo Jegede.

Speaking on how to curtail the pockets of crises threatening the Saturday election, he advised that INEC and security agencies should be allowed to do their duties professionally without interference.

Like it was done in Edo State recently, Secondus appealed to the people to protect their votes and resist any attempt by the ruling party to rig the election.

He urged them to come out en masse to vote for the PDP and defeat the APC governorship candidate, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who is seeking a re-election.

While the chairman of the National Campaign Council for Ondo election and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, reaffirmed the panicky situation of the ruling party, saying they were planning to rig the election.

Makinde assured the people that the PDP candidate would win the election and bring the dividends of democracy for the benefit of all.

The Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, tasked the people on rejecting APC with their votes, lamenting that it has inflicted unbearable hardship on Nigerians.

Tambuwal implored the people of the state to join other PDP states which have departed from listless chains of poverty, unemployment, economic crunch and diabolical policies to repress the poor.

In his own statement, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State said, crisis in this country is too much and in order to create another political crisis in Ondo state, President Muhammadu Buhari and INEC should conduct free, fair and transparent election on Saturday in Ondo.

“APC should stop rigging; the election had been already won by our candidate, Eyitayo Jegede,” he said.

Governors at the rally include, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Umaru Fintiri, Adamawa; Bala Muhammed, Bauchi; Nyeson Wike, Rivers State; Aminu Tambuwal, Sokoto State; Bello Matawalle, Zamfara; Douye Diri, Bayelsa State; Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu State; Okezie Ikpeazu, Abia State; former governor of Gombe, Ibrahim Dankwambo, and former governor of Niger State, Babandiga Aliu; former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, and former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola.
