Nigerians react, as Atiku’s sympathises with Tinubu over Democracy Day fall

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday , sympathised with President Bola Tinubu over his slipping, as he attempted to climb the parade vehicle.

The sympathy has however generated reactions from Nigerians on the social media.

Following the incident, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), presidential candidate took to his X handle where he stated that ” I sincerely sympathise with President Bola Tinubu, @officialABAT, over this unfortunate incident as he was set to review the parade on Democracy Day. I do hope that all is well with him. -AA”

But NAWAS M @ nawas_masood, one of his followers, reacted by stating that

” This isn’t good coming from you. You can sympathize with him without posting the video. This is more like mockery not sympathy. The table will turn and we will be here.

” Tinubu is our president and insha Allah you will never be president in Nigeria

Another social media user GrandpaFrank @maniac8989, noted however, that the fall was part of the parade plans

Explaining further, he said the fall has a divine message

” It was part of the celebration. It was practiced. Nigeria will fall but we will rise again. That’s the message he was trying to portray”

The President was involved in a minor accident at the Eagle Square parade ground on Wednesday as he tried to climb the parade van, that led to him slipping, as he tried to climb the parade van

He was quickly assisted by his security aides.

In a swift reaction, Dada Olusegun, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, on his X handle, said there was no cause for worries

According to him ” Mr President missed his step while climbing into the truck at the June 12 Democracy Day celebration and tripped. It was a mild misstep.

” He immediately went on with the ceremonial rounds.

” No issues”

Tinubu, 72, was celebrating his first Democracy Day as President, having been sworn on the 29th of May, 2023.

The Democracy Day and parades marked the end of two weeks long activities, which commenced with Ministers giving their scorecards for the past one years.

The President had given a nationwide broadcast in the early hours of Wednesday, before proceeding to the Eagle Square, for the parade.
