There are indications that the Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, Khadija Bukar-Ibrahim, may have tendered her resignation to pursue “higher political, callings”.
Khadija Ibrahim, it will be recalled had indicated her interest to occupy the Yobe State Government House, as Governor last year, but lost out to the incumbent All Progressive Congress APC Secretary, Maimala Buni,
BusinessDay Villa sources said although the resignation was yet to be made public, Khadija who previously served as commissioner in Yobe State, may be going back to House of Representatives, where she had served three consecutive sessions, before her elevation to the position of Minister of State, Foreign Affairs.
Khadija Ibrahim, 51, is married to Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim a firmer Governor of Yobe State and currently a serving Senator.
BusinessDay also gathered that Bukar Ibrahim however did not intend to return to the National Assembly after the expiration of his current tenure.
Her resignation will bring to four the number of female Ministers who have resigned from the current cabinet.
Others included the former Minister of Environment, now UN Deputy Secretary General, Amina Mohammed, former Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun who left after the NYSC certificate scandal and Aisha Alhassan, former Women Affairs Minister who left to pursue gubernatorial ambitions in Taraba State.
