Ifeanyi John Ubabukoh, the patriarch, brother, and uncle of the Ubabukoh family of Ngo Village in Igbo-Ukwu, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, passed away on February 14, 2024, and his funeral is scheduled for April 25, 2024.

The dead was a Champion Newspapers columnist and the editorial board’s previous chairman. He had edited the Sunday and weekday editions of The Mail while he was employed there.

After leaving Champion Newspapers, he worked for  Peter Obi, the governor of Anambra State at the time, as a Senior Special Assistant on Communication from June 2009 until June 2012.

Following a statement released by his son, Ozioma Ubabukoh, the late journalist’s compound in Ngo Village will host a Service of Songs on behalf of the family on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.

The statement also stated that on Thursday, April 25, the remains will depart from Apex Mortuary in Igbo-Ukwu and be laid to rest at Ubabukoh’s compound in Ngo.

“Funeral service will commence by 10 a.m. and interment will take place by noon at Ubabukoh’s compound,” he stated.

Ozioma Ubabukoh, who is the Principal Consultant at Plexus Media Interlinks (Plexus), a brand management consulting firm, and spokesperson to former presidential candidate, Obiageli Ezekwesili, said his late father would be remembered for his engaging wit, humility and generosity, regretting that “death called him when his wealth of knowledge and experience was mostly needed.”

He mentioned that the late Ubabukoh is survived by his wife, sons, daughters, in-laws, siblings, grandkids, and other relatives. He also noted that the patriarch’s outing service will be held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Igbo-Ukwu on Sunday, April 28, 2024.
