Senate confirms Abike Dabiri Chair, Diaspora Commission

Abike-Dabiri-Erewa
The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Abike Dabiri-Erewa as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.
This followed the adoption of the report of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations at Thursday plenary.
Dabiri-Erewa, a former member of the House of Representatives, is currently the Special Adviser to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora.
Presenting the committee’s report, Chairman of the panel, Rose Okoh recalled that the former lawmaker was the sponsor of the bill that established the Commission during her time in the House of Representatives.
“The Committee after a critical scrutiny of the Curriculum Vitae and other accompanying documents of the nominee and having been satisfied about her integrity, exposure, suitability, competence and experience in politics and public service found Abike Dabiri-Erewa as fit as proper person for appointment as Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission,” Okoh said.
President Muhammadu Buhari had in November 2018 requested the Senate to confirm her appointment as pioneer Chairman/CEO of the Commission.
