…As Wike’s loyal lawmakers reconvene in own location
Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has signed the quickly passed N800.4bn 2024 budget. The Attorney-General of the state, Professor Zacchaeus Adangor, has thrown in the towel and his resignation letter dated November 14, 2023, accepted.
Meanwhile, the 26 lawmakers loyal to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, found a place at the Assembly Quarters and reconvened the parliament. Thus, two parliaments now make law for Rivers State.
The attorney-general was said to have thrown in the resignation letter to save himself the trauma of being made to sign any legal instrument for Fubara. It is not clear what role he ought to play in signing the 2024 budget into law.
The Martins Amaewhule camp met and condemned the demolition of the Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) complex on Moscow Road.
The faction appealed to all Nigerians and the international community to save Rivers State from alleged attack on democracy.

This is as Fubara is winning accolades for both actions: demolition and budget.
In adopting the motion of urgent public interest condemning the demolition of Rivers state house of Assembly complex by Governor Fubara, they drew the attention of the Federal Government and the international community to the alleged attack on the state’s legislature.
They also passed two bills into law: The Rivers State Funds Management Bill 2023 and The Rivers State Local Government Amendment Bill 2023.

Observers said that the resignation of the attorney general of the state signified the final realignment of forces before the final showdown. Calls for rapproachement have been drowned.
