Police kill nine criminals in forest along Abuja-Kaduna Expressway

The Police have killed 9 notorious armed- criminals at the dreaded Akilbu Forest along Kaduna-Abuja Expressway and recovered various items from them.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, saying that the success was recorded following a “serious gunfire between police operatives and armed notorious criminal gang at the Akilbu Forest, off Abuja-Kaduna Expressway,which resulted in the death of 9 members of the gang while two escaped with gunshot wounds.”

The police also said that one of the police operatives however, sustained gunshot wound and is presently receiving treatment in a hospital, adding that effort is being intensfied to arrest the fleeing members of the gang.

Frank noted in the statement that unrelenting efforts to root-out criminal elements terrorizing commuters along Abuja – Kaduna took place on 10th April, 2019, as part of the recently launched Operation Puff Adder, by the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

The police said the items recovered from the criminals include; six (6) Ak 47 Rifles, one (1) Pump Action Gun, One Thousand, Two Hundred and Six (1,206) rounds of Ak47 Ammunition, Seven (7) Magazines, Twenty-Eight (28) Cartridges and One Hundred and Fifty-Eight (158) expended shells by Police operatives attached to Operation Puff adder deployed to the area.

While expressing satisfaction with the successes recorded so far in the fight against kidnapping and other heinous crimes across the Country, the Acting Inspector General Police, Adamu reiterated his call for support by the public to the Police and other sister agencies, even as he gave the assurance that the war against armed bandits will soon be won.
