A good number of physically-challenged persons on Monday blocked the roads leading to Oyo State government Secretariat in Ibadan to protest alleged shortchange in State’s Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) recruitment.
The protesters who blocked the main entrance to the state’s seat of power thereby leading to heavy traffic snarl along the Agodi-government Secretariat road demanded more slots in the non-teaching arm from the commission
The physically challenged person from across the 33 local government areas of the state alleged that some of them applied as non-teaching staff from TESCOM but were disqualified.
With the development, security agents among whom were police, DSS, Amotekun Corps and NSCDC were quickly drafted to the main gate of the Secretariat to avoid break down of law and order.

The commission has a just-released list of 7,000 successful candidates for the non-teaching job but it was gathered that only 149 physically-challenged persons were shortlisted.
In an interview, some of them said, “we are protesting because of the TESCOM appointment. The non-teaching job.
“Most of our people are not given an appointment. Instead of giving us, the disabled, the able people have taken over.
“They supposed to give us 5 per cent. That is 350. They gave us 149 instead of 350. That is the reason why we are here. We want the Governor to prevail on the commission. We want the Governor to intervene.”
