Payment of ransoms sustains kidnapping industry, says Shehu Sani

Former lawmaker and human rights activist, Shehu Sani, has said the payment of a ransom to secure the release of victims is sustaining and flourishing the kidnapping industry in Nigeria.

Sani, however, also said non-payment of ransom puts the lives of the victims in grave danger.

“We are stuck in between the flame of evil and the sword of infamy,” he said in a tweet via his verified handle.

Sani described the release of the kidnapped Kankara students as a welcome and commendable development.
