Ortom relieves Benue Water Board General Managers of Appointments
Governor Samuel Ortom has relieved the General Manager (GM), of the Benue State Water Board, Michael Zungur and his counterpart from Benue State Environmental and Sanitation Agency, BENSESA, Andrew Chile of their appointments with immediate effect.
The Governor who relieved the GMs of their appointments today during an assessment tour of the Makurdi Greater Water Works and BENSESA said his decision was based on their nonchalant attitudes and inability to effectively manage the affairs of their organisations.
While he directed Zungur to handover to the most senior officer in charge of the Board and report to the State Head of Service for redeployment, the Governor also directed Chile also hand over to the next person to him while his replacement is being sought.
Governor Ortom frowned at the inability of the GM Water Board to provide portable drinking water to Benue people despite the availability of water in River Benue, stressing that he was further saddened that his three times visits to the Board yielded no positive results.
At BENSESA, the Governor noted that with the number of equipment at the agency, there was no reason for Makurdi and its environs to be littered with refuse just because of lack of maintenance of the equipment.
The Governor stated that he would not condon any case of non performance in his second term, stressing that drastic actions had to be taken in order to justify the renewal of his mandate by people of the state.
Governor Ortom also visited the Mama Abayol Orphanage Home in High Level to supervise ongoing complete reconstruction of the orphanage home and assured the inmates of his administration’s determination to provide minimum comfort for them.
He stated that the orphans were very special children whom should be taken good care of, stressing that none of the children had desired that they should be in their present conditions, hence the need to upgrade the facility which he further noted was taken with his wife, Eunice Ortom.
The Governor also inspected the ongoing renovation works on the Fire Service Office and Police outpost, all in Industrial Layout, Makurdi, where he charged the contractor to ensure timely and quality work.
