Onnoghen Code of Conduct Tribunal adjourns for one hour

The Code of Conduct Tribunal has adjourned for one hour to give a ruling on submissions by counsel to both Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen and the federal government.

The CJN was charged before the tribunal on alleged non declaration of assets.

For the second time the CJN was absent in court, Tuesday
Chief Wole Olanipekun had argued for the need of the tribunal to adjourned sine die (indefinitely) on grounds that three high courts made orders for stay of proceedings at the tribunal.

He added that an appeal had also been entered at the court of appear.

However, Aliyu Umar, the prosecution counsel argued that the issue of the absence of defendant in court should first be addressed.

However, Danladi Umar, chairman of the tribunal adjourned for one hour for a ruling.
