Nigeria, USA to forge stronger security ties – FG

Nigeria aims to enhance its security collaboration with the United States, particularly in the fight against terrorism and other criminal activities.

Muhammed Bello Matawalle, Minister of State for Defence,, conveyed this commitment during a meeting with Congresswoman Betty McCollum and other members of the US Congress at the United States Capitol, according to a statement by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Press and Public Relations.

Matawalle underscored the enduring friendship between Nigeria and the USA, emphasizing Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of Nigeria’s agenda to eradicate terrorism with the collaborative support of the United States. The discussions highlighted the shared commitment to addressing pressing security challenges, especially in the fight against terrorism.

Betty McCollum, leader of the United States House Committee on Appropriation for Defence, expressed the unwavering dedication of the United States in supporting Nigeria.

“This support includes intelligence and information sharing, training initiatives, and collaboration in military hardware production”, she stated.

McCollum emphasized that the strengthened partnership aims to contribute significantly to the stability of security in Nigeria.
