NCDMB boss impressed with Falck Prime Atlantic training facility

The Nigerian content development and monitoring board (NCDMB) would continue to promote the utilization of in-country capacities for the country’s industrialization as contained in the Nigerian Content Act.

Speaking during an inspection to Falck Prime Atlantic training facility in Ipara,  Ogun- State, Simbi Wabote, executive secretary, NCDMB expressed delight with the level of investment in the training facility which was commissioned ten years ago.

Wabote said Nigeria is making tremendous progress in terms human capital development in the oil and gas industry, noting that the facility an international standard.

“The onus is on us at NCDMB to give them maximum support in order that they would reap the benefit of their huge investment in the country,”  he said.

Speaking on Nigerian content intervention fund Wabote said it has been successful so far noting that 80percent of the fund has been disbursed to contributors to the fund and they are yearning for more of the funds in order to Nigerian businesses.

Speaking on gaps in the Nigerian Content Act, Wabote notes that the Act is not fool proof.

“In every society, no matter what you do there there would always be culprits and we have an internal mechanism to deal with this,” he said.

Wabote noted that with such training centers such as Falke Atlantic Training facility Nigerians do not need to pay a lot of money to acquire training.

“The facility here is international standards with all the facilities. As you know the oil and gas industry thrives on well trained expertise,” he added.

Ayo Otuyalo, managing director, Prime Atlantic said the facility is meant to build capacity for various value chain in the oil and gas industry in safety, fire fighting techniques.

“Interestingly, this would not only serve the oil and gas industry but state governments for training of fire-fighters,” he said.

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) was established by the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act which came into effect on April 22, 2010, with a vision to be  the catalyst for the industrialization of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry and its linkage sectors.
