The national Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has denied the allegation a presidential spokesman that it omitted the informal-job data, saying that neither the D-G nor NBS made any such admission to the government or anybody.
“Assuming what you claim was said was actually said then I make it very clear that neither the Statistician General nor NBS ever made any such admission at any time to anybody,” Yemi Kale, the Director-General of NBS said in a tweet today.
Garba Shahu, the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, had said in a statement on Channel television on Monday, December 17, 2018, that the DG of NBS admitted to the federal government of Nigeria that it had paid only attention to employment figures of white-collar jobs and not those in the informal sector.
