LG Electronics washes over 300,000 clothes free for 24,000 families in Nigeria

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the management of LG Electronics says it has washed over 300, 000 clothes free to over 24, 000 families in Nigeria since 2018.

Brian Kang, General Manager, Home Appliances, LG Electronics West Africa Operations made the disclosure during the commissioning of LG Electronics free laundry/wash services centre in Benin City.

Kang said it was done in the company’s operational free laundry /wash centres in Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Kano states.

While describing the achievement as significant for the company, he added that the Benin centre has the capacity to wash 500 sets of clothes per day for over 40 persons.

He opined that the development would go a long way in assisting the people of the state in meeting their washing needs.

He explained that the free laundry service was targeted at alleviating the shortage of water and power supply in the area as well as for residents to efficiently carry out their laundry activities.

“We understand that doing well is good business and so being able to launch our fourth Free Wash Centre in Benin City, Edo State is a social investment we are happy to make.

“The journey started in 2018 from establishing the first of its kind in Ogba, Lagos State, same year we moved to Port-Harcourt and just early this year we established the one in Kano. We are resolute to keep replicating this gesture across the Nation.

He further disclosed that the laundry centres are operating free of cost to end-users, just as he called on the residents of the state to take full advantage of the support being rendered to them by the company.

Earlier, Hari Elluru, head of corporate marketing division, LG Electronics, West Africa Operations, said the technologically advanced set of commercial washing machines/dryers will improve the living conditions of the beneficiaries.

Elluru also said that it will support the daily washing needs of people in the state as well as save time, because of its high-efficiency advantage.

He, however, expressed the determination of the company to lead sustainability through inclusive growth in Nigeria while ensuring that the business community enjoy the best advanced technologically built electronic products.

In his remarks, the representative of Fouani Nigeria Limited, Benin City Branch Manager, Hadi Hobballah, who described the state- of- the -art free wash centre by its LG Electronics partner noted that the gesture will help its customers to further keep clean in a way that promotes hygienic living.

“LG Electronics is focused on strategic ways to touch lives and make life better for the people across the globe. The company would continue to replicate this gesture across strategic places in the country”,he added.
