Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has briefed President Muhammadu Buhari on the extent of damage caused by Sunday’s explosion in Lagos.

Sanwo-Olu flew to Abuja hours after visiting the site explosion at Abule Ado, Lagos, which claimed 20 lives, left several others injured and destroyed over 100 houses.

Governor Sanwo-Olu met with President Buhari in his office at the Aso Villa on Monday afternoon.

The governor had promised to visit the president to let him know the extent of damage caused by the explosions.

He had earlier in Lagos constituted a fact-finding committee, headed by the deputy governor Obafemi Hamzat to investigate the remote and immediate cause(s) of the explosion and recommend ways to avert a future occurrence.

He said that recommendations from the investigation would be implemented by his administration.

He commiserated with families of the victims and persons who lost their homes and properties to the explosion.

“On behalf of the government, I commiserate with families that lost their loved ones, students that lost their teacher and everyone in this neighbourhood who lost their means of livelihood.”
