Kwara Government begins training of 150 persons for “KWARA CARE”

The Kwara State Government on Thursday commenced training for the 150 people selected from the recently disengaged N-Power beneficiaries to be use for its poverty alleviation programme tagged “KWARA CARE”.

“KWARA CARE” is an initiative of Kwara State Social Investment Programmes (KWASSIP) in partnership with World Bank to provide relief for the poor and vulnerable and support of small- scale businesses to cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.

Addressing Journalists at the training centre in Ilorin, the state capital, Mohammed Brimah, acting General Manager of the Kwara State Social Investment (KWASSIP) explained that “KWARA CARE” is a subsidiary of the World Bank project in Nigeria.

According to him, no fewer than 150 people from disengaged N-Power beneficiaries have been picked to be used as enumerators in collecting data of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) operating across the 16 local government areas of the state.

Brimah noted that “the beneficiaries would pass through professional training that would be conducted by another partner, Bank of Industry (BOI) before their deployment to the field for data collection”

Earlier, the state commissioner of Finance, Florence Oyeyemi, disclosed that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has been doing a lot since the inception of its administration to uplift the poor and vulnerable people in the state and charged the lucky beneficiaries to be a good ambassador of the government when they get to the field.

Expressing appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries, Adeniyi Iyanuoluwa, lauded Governor Abdulrazaq administration for its various initiative that targeted at uplifting the vulnerable, adding that the trainee will live up to the expectations.
