Kano allocates N5bn for second batch of pension gratuity

The administration of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in Kano State has allocated N5 billion for the disbursement of a second instalment of pension gratuity to retired workers in the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made the disclosure Wednesday during the commencement of the 14th  State Executive Council meeting held at the Council Chamber, Government House, Kano.
He noted that the new disbursement was a follow-up to the one disbursed last year when the sum of N6 billion naira was disbursed to settle outstanding arrears of hundreds of retirees who had not received their entitlements in the past eight years.
Yusuf said that the payment was made to support retirees and bring joy to their lives, as many had endured years of waiting without receiving their rightful dues despite their dedicated service to the state during their working years.
The Governor added that the current administration is committed to ensuring the well-being of civil servants, and retirees in the state.
Governor Yusuf further disclosed that the administration was making preparations for clearing drainages in the Kano metropolis in anticipation of the rainy season.
He said that all the heads of the interim management councils in all the 44 local government areas of the state have been directed to make similar arrangements.
According to him,  a high-powered committee, led by the Deputy Governor, has been constituted to oversee the desilting of drainages across the local government’s areas, as a way of preventing flooding during the rainy season.
He urged the people of the state to be patient with his administration noting that tireless efforts are been made to address the challenges of water scarcity in the state, noting that the scarcity has been experienced as a result of mechanical issues, and inconsistent power supply that is hindering the smooth operation of the state Water Board.
He however, expressed gratitude to the people of the state for their support to his administration and assured them of his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises to enhance the prosperity and well-being of Kano State.
