As part of his engagements in Saudi Arabia, President Muhammadu Buhari and some leaders from Zamfara State have stormed the holy land in search of Spiritual help for the security crises in Zamfara and other states in the country
The holy month of Ramadan, is said to be a blessed time for spiritual reflection and commitment; even as prayers are encouraged to achieve forgiveness, peace and prosperity of Nations.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the President, on Sunday in Makkah had Iftar dinner (a fast-breaking meal), which is a daily ritual during the holy month of Ramadan, in the company of Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State and the Emir of Maradun, Garba Tambari.
The state and its environs had in recent times been at the center of security crises including kidnapping for ransoms, armed robbery and other violent attacks fueled by the activities of illegal gold mining in the region.
Many had back home, lamented failure of government to halt the crises and bring the perpetrators to book, even as similar kidnapping has also defiled solution on the Kaduna to Abuja road.
Spates of violent attacks , kidnapping and unrests have also spread to other parts of the country in recent times, including the Benin to Lagos road axis where kidnappers were reported to have attacked passengers and took innocent road users hostage for ransom.
Shehu disclosed that the President Buhari expressed sadness over the loss of lives and destruction of property in the State following banditry attacks.
The President also expressed determination to ensure that justice prevails and Nigerians find peace and prosperity wherever they lived.
The Emir of Maradun led prayers for the repose of victims of violent attacks in Zamfara State and all over Nigeria and for God to help the country achieve total peace and stability.
The President was accompanied to the event by Nigeria’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Justice Isa Dodo (rtd), and some personal aides
President Buhari and his entourage are however expected back in Nigeria on Monday after attending the lesser hajj as guest of King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, the ruler of Saudi Arabia and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.
