ILO top boss, Phala to speak at first Nigeria microinsurance conference

…conference to be organised by Goxi Microinsurance

Vanessa Phala, director of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) for Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, will speak at the upcoming first microinsurance conference set to be hosted by Goxi Microinsurance.

Goxi Microinsurance, Nigeria’s microinsurance company, said in a statement made available to BusinessDay on Friday that the inaugural conference of microinsurance professionals will be focused on helping drive socio-economic empowerment in Africa’s biggest economy.

The company said, “We are dedicated to breaking the barriers of poverty and enhancing the lives of our customers through innovative risk management solutions,” which is a bold step taken to advance the microinsurance sector.

The conference which is the first of its kind is expected to take place on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Radisson Hotel, Isaac John, Ikeja, Lagos, under the theme, “Microinsurance as a Catalyst for Socio-Economic Empowerment.”

Goxi added that the event will serve as a platform for fruitful discussions and collaboration.

Sina Gbadegesin, Managing Director of Goxi Microinsurance, is excited about the company’s leading role in bringing the microinsurance sector together to offer better services to the public.

The company said that this year’s conference plans to gather various people, such as insurance experts, government officials, NGOs, and anyone who cares about microinsurance. Gbadegesin further stated that all interested parties are invited to participate in the event, which he described as “groundbreaking,” featuring live stream for online audience.

“This conference is not just about Goxi Microinsurance; it’s about the collective effort to improve the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria through microinsurance, he concluded.
