IGP Adamu in closed-door meeting with Senators over community policing

IGP Adamu in closed-door meeting with Senators over community policing

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu is currently in the Senate in a closed-door meeting with Senators to brief them on why community policing is not implemented to address the security challenges in the country.

The meeting is currently holding in the Senate Chamber.

Journalists and National Assembly staffers have been barred from the Chamber.

The IGP is expected to speak on the worsening  national security in the country.

It will be recalled that the Senate had, on resumption from its break, taken a whole day to discuss the security crisis in the country.

While the Senate urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency on security, it equally constituted a 17-man ad-hoc committee headed by the Senate Leader, Yahayah Abdullahi, and mandated it to, among other things, interface with heads of relevant security outfits.

The Senate further directed that the IGP should appear before it today to brief it on the failure of security architecture.
