Honeywell Group partners LSETF To improve tech innovation In Lagos

Honeywell Group has partnered with the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) tech arm ‘Lagos Innovate’ to support the growth of tech start-ups in Lagos, Nigeria.

One of the program’s main goals is to help youths in Lagos State who have the necessary qualifications acquire the necessary skills to participate in today’s global marketplace. The initiative, which has been supported by HGL for three years, aims to provide tools to help young techpreneurs develop successful start-ups in the state.

Commenting on the partnership, Tomi Otudeko, Head of Corporate Services of Honeywell Group, said that creating long term value for Nigerians is a paramount objective of Honeywell Group and the tech ecosystem is filled with ideas enough to revolutionise how we think as a society.

“We are excited to meet these new faces of technology, and to partner with Lagos State and LSETF in easing the path to success,” Otudeko said.

Starting in August, the applicant will be trained in full stack development with JavaScript (React JS, NodeJs, Express and MongoDB + API Development); full stack development for mobile applications (React Native, API Development); Python Programming for web and data science (PYTHON OOP, DJANGO & Data Science); frontend design and engineering: (UI/UX, HTML, CSS, ES6 & React JS); full stack web development over the course of 24 weeks.

Also commenting on the programme, Teju Abisoye, the CEO and Executive Secretary of LSETF stated, “We are delighted to partner with Honeywell Group to develop a talent pool of professionals who can compete favourably with their peers across the world, while also achieving one of LSETF’s most critical goals of improving the skills and employability of young people in the state.”

He continued by saying that both organizations are dedicated to ensuring that young people are prepared to help Nigeria’s growing start-up ecosystem while also positioning themselves for a growing global freelance market.

Applicants must be Lagos State residents (with LASRRA) between the ages of 22 and 45, and have completed NYSC as at the time of application. The application process will end on June x, 2022.

Training partners for the programme include Skill Paddy, The Nest, DesignU, GOMYCODE, Seed Builders Innovation Hub, Slate Cube, Softwork Freelance Network, Univelcity, Dataleum and Torilo Academy.
