Cross River security adviser
Former chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area and chief security adviser to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in his country home.
Irene Ugbo, Cross River State police public relation officer, confirmed the development while speaking with newsmen in Calabar, the state capital.
He was abducted in his house on Tuesday by 3am and beaten to a pulp by suspected kidnappers who carried assorted guns.
An eyewitness who gave his name as Etim Ekong alleged that the action might be connected with recent political events in the state.
“Though the action is regrettable, it may not be unconnected with recent developments in the state,” he said.
