…Alumnus says gesture aims to curb financial challenges faced by scholars

Dr. Kerobo & Mrs. Gloria Foundation has instituted a scholarship award for students of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State.

This is in recognition of the challenges faced by young Nigerians in accessing higher education, and the potential they hold for driving positive change in the society.

Sunny Kerobo, a PhD holder and alumnus of Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, said the ‘Dr Kerobo Luminary Scholar Award’ was an initiative of his Foundation aimed at curbing the financial challenges faced by students of higher institution in the payment of their school fees, thereby enabling beneficiary students to further their education.

The target, he said, is to ensure that 14 best deserving male and female students are given scholarship annually through the foundation as part of his contribution to education development in the country.

Sunny Kerobo, who is the MD/CEO, Kero Global Lendas Ltd, was represented at the inauguration ceremony by O’tega Samuel Emorwodia, his executive assistant and Idowu Kerobo, general business administrator, Kero Global Lendas Ltd.

He further said that basically, for the whole school, “we have been able to reach out to 12 physically challenged students, another 16 students from each of the departments in the polytechnics and another 10 students from the Office Technology Management Department (OTM) where Sunny Kerobo graduated from.

Shehu Salisu Umar, a PhD holder and rector of Auchi Polytechnic, in his remarks appreciated Sunny Kerobo and his wife for the commitment and benevolence in making impact in his Alma Mather, where he graduated many years ago. He called on other alumnus of the school to emulate the good gesture for the betterment of the institution.

He also urged the student to take advantage of the opportunity to redefine their future and give value to the society.

The journey for the “Dr Kerobo Luminary Scholar Award” started in 2023. Representatives of Sunny Kerobo, PhD & his wife Gloria Kerobo had meetings with Shehu Salisu Umar, rector, Auchi Polytechnic and some principal officers of Auchi Polytechnic sometimes in February 2024 after which an MoU was signed by both parties prior to the Inauguration ceremony.
