Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the appointment of Olumuyiwa & Bashir &co as the lead consultants for the forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC at the cost of N318m
This is as Health Minister Osagie Ehanire announced that Nigeria now has three laboratories located at Lagos, Abuja and Irrua, to test for CoronaVirus
Minister of Niger Delta Affairs , Godswill Akpabio who disclosed this while brief State House Correspondents after the weekly FEC meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, said the lead Consultants “will appoint other forensic Auditors for the NDDC.
Federal government had approved the forensic audit of NDDC from 2001 to 2014.
Akpabio who briefed alongside Minister of Health Osagie Ehanire, Works Minister, Babatunde Fashola and Minister of State for Transportation, Bemisola Saraki said the lead consultants will now appoint other 9 consultants to carry out the forensic audit

Mandate Implementation plans for his Ministry, disclosed 1600 citizens in the region has been empowered, while six skill acquisition centers in each of the state, are currently under construction
Akpabio said the Ministry has concluded plans to commence the forensic auditing of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC,
He also announced that the Ministry will soon commence the construction of nine housing estates in the states covered by the Commission
“ We have secured the Certificate of No Objection from the Bureau of Public Procurement BPP, and we are trying to bring in the forensic auditors who will carry out the audits
“ We have designated 10 centers for the collation of information where NDDC projects are cited
“ We have also concluded plans to complete the over 9000 NDDC projects abandoned by the previous administration in various parts of the NDDC states
The audit, which BusinessDay gathered will last for the next nine months, has already commenced with collation of evidence from NDDC contract sites by members of the NDDC interim management committee
“ We already have a team going around the NDDC contract sites collecting evidence, which will be analyzed by the forensic auditors
Akpabio disclosed that part of the responsibilities of interim management committee put in place by the government will be to collaborate with the consultants.
“ We have already ordered the compilation of documents, award letters and other evidence needed by the forensic auditors “
Health Minister, Ehanire disclosed that the federal government has equipped the three laboratories in Lagos, Abuja’s Center for Disease Control NCDC, and the Irruah Specialist Hospital for Disease Control as designated centers to test for the virus.
Speaking further on Lassa fever and Coronavirus, Ehanire dispelled fears that the country lacks capacity to detect the virus, adding that” We have mechanisms in place at the airports to test and screen all passengers coming into the country. They are given forms to fill and asked to contact us within two weeks”
Ehanire empathically declared that “ there is no case of CoronaVirus in Nigeria”
He disclosed that although the nation initially did not have the reagent for testing for the virus, the World Health Organizations, made them available to the country 8 days ago.
We now have the machines and the reagents and have equipped three laboratories in Nigeria in Lagos, Abuja and Iruah for testing and analyzing samples
He also disclosed efforts by the Chinese government to detect and control the spread of the disease which he said has been largely responsible restraint .
“ You know that the disease is transmitted from persons to persons. Perhaps, we must commend the Chinese government for their efforts to detect, Control and restraint patients from leaving China to other parts of the world”
He noted that Nigerian team is already Geneva as part of orientation on the CoronaVirus by the World Health Organization, WHO.
Speaking further on the Benue strange disease , he disclosed that investigations by the NCDC showed that victims had consumed fish killed with Gamalin 20.
Works and Housing Minister, Babatunde Fashola said FEC approved the appointment of Yolas Consultants to design a fresh proposal for additional lane for the Abuja -Kano highways, at the cost of N867.2m
“ We want to expand the road totaling 365km by adding one more lane on each side of the road and add 66 bridges.
Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, also revealed that FEC approved contracts for extension consultancy serviced for the rehabilitation of the Tin Can Island to Yolas Consultants at the cost of N1.482m
