Don’t deal with Daura, DSS warns public

dss

The Department of State Services (DSS) on Tuesday warned members of the public not to have anything to do with the sacked former Director General of DSS, Lawal Daura following speculations that Daura still wields enormous influence in the service with which he is already serving the interests of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Daura was DSS DG between 2015 and 2018. But his apparent partisanship became obvious when he ordered hooded men of the DSS to invade the National Assembly to allegedly perfect a change or leadership of the legislature. This development embarrassed the nation and prompted the then Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo to sack him. He was replaced with Matthew Seyefa.

The DSS, in a statement, dismissed such speculation of Daura’s influence in the system, warning that the assumption is not only false but those dealing with him at any capacity do so at their own risk as it is public knowledge that Daura cannot represent the Service in any capacity.

“The attention of the Department of State Services (DSS) has been drawn to insinuations and wide speculations that its former Director General, Alhaji Lawal Musa Daura, still controls affairs at the Agency, long after his removal from Office.

“While the Service debunks this false belief, it warns that any person or group that further engages him or his representatives/associates does so at their own peril.

“The Service will not tolerate acts of impersonation designed to undermine it and will decisively deal with person(s), no matter how highly placed, that may engage in such behaviour. The public should, therefore, note this and avoid circumstances under which unsuspecting persons may be deceived,” the statement added.

DSS further assured Nigerians that they arevdedicated to the core values of professionalism, selflessness, vigilance and the rule of law and urged the public to cooperate with the secret police at all times.
