As Nigeria continue to witness multiple crimes, ranging from kidnapping, banditry among other vices, the former member of the House of Representatives, Usman Shehu Bawa has cautioned Nigerian youths from being used to perpetrate any evil against their own country.
ABG, as he is popularly called, said it is important to promote peaceful coexistence among the diverse groups in the country.
Bawa who is a member representing Kaduna North Constituency made the assertion while addressing newsmen during a town hall meeting by the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kaduna at the weekend.
He added that promoting peace must be the priority of everybody, as he noted that no nation can survive without peace.
“Peace building is very important and we must look inward to ensure that we remain indivisible.
“My dream has always been to promote peace, not only within the shore of Kaduna State but, across the country”, he said.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Christians Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna Branch, Rev. Joseph Hayab said promoting peace and preaching peace should be the watchword of everybody.
” Today, Nigeria is under serious attack, so there is the need to sensitise the youth not to be violence extremists”, the CAN Chairman said.
While tasking the Media not to be biased in their reportage, Hayab also called on the religious institutions to wake up from their slumber and rise to the security challenges through peace preaching to their followers.
The cleric who blamed the political class for the insecurity ravaging the country said Nigerians politicians are now taken advantage of Nigerians to cause division among the people.
