Democracy Day: FG declares June 12 as public holiday

Nigeria’s N100M party nomination forms: Feudalism with extra steps

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday June 12, public holiday, to celebrate Democracy Day.

Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Georgina Ehuriah, made the declaration in a statement signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mohammed Manga.

“In line with the enactment into law of June 12 annually as Democracy Day in Nigeria, the Federal Government has declared Wednesday 12th June, 2019 as Public Holiday to commemorate the maiden National Democracy Day”, Manga said

While calling on the citizens to continue to recognise and appreciate the sacrifice made by
“heroes of democracy, particularly those who lost their lives in the struggle for the actualization of Democratic Governance in Nigeria in order to make the country a better place for all”, the federal government appealed for cooperation with government’s at all levels, to facilitate the delivery of democracy dividend.
