CSOs protest at Lagos Assembly, urge Sanwo-Olu to end crises in State’s tertiary Institutions

A Coalition of Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) staged a protest Wednesday at the Lagos State House of Assembly, urging the Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to urgently intervene in the crises rocking all government-owned tertiary institutions in the state.

The coalition called for a functional visitation panel which would comprise labour unionists, students’ representatives, and representatives of the schools’ management.

The CSOs included Sahara Education Development Initiative (SEDI), Committee For Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), United Action Development (UAD), and Work Bond International Network (WIN). They also called on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) to wade into the crises to find lasting solutions.

The group also demanded the reinstatement of five LASU officials of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, who it said were illegally dismissed by the Bayo Ninalowo-led governing council, and the Vice-Chancellor, Lanre Fagbohun.
