Buhari appoints Ahmed, new CSO

Buhari

There are strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Idris Kazeem Ahmed as his new Chief Security Officer, (CSO).

Ahmed’s appointment followed removal of Bashir Abubakar., who is expected to proceed on course.

The move is said to be part of the President’s plans to rejig his security architecture, ahead of his second tenure which commences on the 29th of May, 2019, although there was no reasons given for the change

The new CSO it was gathered was the Director of Enforcement at the headquarters of the Department of State Services (DSS) until his new appointment

Businessday gathered that the former CSO was last week ordered to proceed on an immediate “strategic course” at a University in Buenos Aires, Argentina, by the Department of State Security Services, DSS, shortly after the President resumed from his home state Katsina, after the gubernatorial and State Assembly elections

This is the second time the President will be replacing his CSO, having replaced the former CSO Abdulrahman Mani, in July 2015, just two months into his administration.
