Ban: Police arrest 40, seize 266 ‘Okada, Keke’ in Lagos

The police in Lagos have arrested 40 persons and seized 266 motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke)  for violating the restriction order placed on their operations by the state government.
The Commissioner of Police (CP), Lagos command, Hakeem Odumosu who confirmed the arrests and seizure of the Okada and Keke, had deployed area commanders, divisional police officers, state traffic officers, area traffic officers, divisional traffic officers, among others to fully enforce the ban.
 The CP had himself went round the state on Saturday, February 1, to monitor the level of compliance.
 The commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance across the state and thanked Lagosia for their cooperation.
The CP personally arrested some motorbike and tricycle operators seen contravening the traffic laws. Others arrested by the CP are VIP escort vehicles without registration numbers, vehicles with defaced and covered plate numbers and vehicles driving against traffic.
The police chief reiterated that no one was above the law. He called on Lagosians irrespective of their social status to support the police in its quest to provide a safe and secured state for everyone to live in and to carry out their lawful businesses.
