Ask Bob for update-EFCC uses Bobrisky’s case to warn naira abusers

The Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has used Bobrisky’s case as an example to show what will happen to Nigerians who abuse the naira.

In a tweet shared after a court in Lagos sentenced Bobrisky to six months imprisonment for abusing the naira without the option of a fine, the anti-graft agency stated that if advocating to stop abusing will not work, a conviction will.

Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye aka Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of fine for abusing the naira.

Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, Lagos, in her sentence, said the judgment will serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of abusing and mutilating the naira.

Before the sentence, the judge asked  about Bobrisky’s  sex, and he quickly replied that he is a man.
He was subsequently sentenced to serve his jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC made a post on its official X page that read, “Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Federal High Court, sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, April 12, 2024, sentenced Idris Okuneye, a.k.a Bobrisky, to six months imprisonment over mutilation of the Naira notes.

“He was arraigned on Friday, April 5, 2024, on a four-count charge bordering on mutilation of the Naira notes to the tune of N490,000,00 (Four Hundred and Ninety Thousand Naira).
