Consequently, the Senate has fixed Tuesday, 5th November, as new date to resume sitting.
By the adjournment, it means that Senate has tinkered with the budget passage timetable which it earlier projected to be ready for assent by December.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan had announced that budget defence by MDAs which began on Wednesday, 16 October, was to last till October 30.

At the moment, the deadline has not been met by the Senate committees and MDAs, signifying that the Senate may not achieve its earlier announced plan to hasten the passage of the 2020 budget and to revert to January-December budget cycle.
The motion for the adjournment on Tuesday was moved by the majority leader, Yahaya Abdullahi, and concurred by Senate minority leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe.
Senate President Lawan while ruling on the motion said, “The Senate will adjourn and suspend plenary till 5th November to enable committees that have not concluded work on the budget to finish it.”
