Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo State, has declared that he would not only sustain the tempo of his achievements of the past fours but triple the record this year.
This is as the governor has also declared 2024 a year of action, prosperity, physical and mental wellbeing for Imo people in particular and Nigeria in general.
He made the disclosure in his statement at the New Year Church Service /Thanksgiving in his home church, St. Rose of Lima Omuma in Oru-East Local Government Area of Imo State.
He used that opportunity to urge Imo people to come together to proffer solutions to their collective problem.
Uzodimma also assured that the performance of his administration in the past four years would be a child’s play when compared to what would happen in the next four years.
Regretting that the global events of last year were not friendly but noted that the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rescue the Nigerian economy would help to change the ugly narrative of the past.
He announced that he has received a large quantity of rice as part of the palliative measures for the South-East, with Imo State inclusive.
The governor, who read the second lesson at the thanksgiving service from Galatians 4:4-7, reiterated that this year, his government would achieve what they failed to achieve last year.
Furthermore, he added that 2024 would be a year of infrastructural revolution and massive job creation as Imo State would not be found wanting in the global digital economy trend.
He reminded everyone that Imo State has no reason to be poor “because Imo is endowed with lots of natural resources.”
Again, he reiterated the need for all entrusted with government responsibilities not to betray the trust and appealed to Imo people to go into the new year with a repentant spirit.
In a brief homily, Lucius Ugorji, Archbishop of Owerri Catholic Province, appealed to Nigerians to shun corruption, greed, selfishness and criminality.
The Archbishop, who also presided over the church service, called on the President Bola Tinubu and other leaders to allow a sense of belonging and inclusiveness to prevail in government, and further charged Nigerians to be obedient and pray for peace in our land.
