After trading on the floor of Ni¬gerian Stock Exchange (NSE) last Fri¬day, price gains recorded by Forte Oil plc, Total Nige¬ria plc, Flour Mills Nigeria plc, UACN plc, and Glaxo¬SmithKline Consumer Ni¬geria plc respectively sur¬passed other equities.

On the contrary, value loss recorded by Nestle Nigeria plc, Guinness Ni¬geria plc, Unilever Nigeria plc, Nigerian Breweries plc, and Red Star Express plc respectively exceeded other companies.images

Forte Oil plc gained N9.61 after rising from a low of N94.39 to close at N104; Total Nigeria plc gained N4, from N166 to N170; Flour Mills Ni¬geria plc appreciated by N1.99 from N76 to N77.99; UACN plc garnered N0.93 from N65.07 to N66; while GlaxoSmithKline Con¬sumer Nigeria plc gained N0.70 from a low of N70 to N70.70.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index (ASI) recorded a modest gain of 0.02 percent or 7.85 points from the preceding trading level of 38,944.62 points to close at 38,952.47 points.

The market capitalisa¬tion of equities listed on the main board rose slight¬ly from N12.509trillion to N12.511trillion, up by N2billion. This was re¬corded as equity dealers exchanged 342,186,485 shares valued at N3.219billion in 4,138 deals.

Nestle Nigeria plc led the losers table after los¬ing N24.50, from N1,060 to N1,035.50; Guinness Nigeria plc followed after declining from a high of N180 to N171.73, losing N8.27.

Unilever Nigeria plc lost N1.46 after moving from N48.46 to N47. Nige¬rian Breweries plc dipped from N146.42 to N146.09, down by N0.33; while and Red Star Express plc declined remarkably by N0.20, from N4.48 to N4.28.

Transactions recorded in the shares of Corner¬stone Insurance Company plc, Access Bank plc, Ster¬ling Bank plc, Transna¬tional Corporation of Ni¬geria plc, and Continental Reinsurance plc boosted the volume of equities traded on the Exchange last Friday.

Equity traders ex¬changed 62,019,940 shares of Cornerstone Insurance Company plc valued at N34.109million.

Also traded were 52,573,987 shares of Ac¬cess Bank plc valued at N394.387million; 26,736,622 shares of Sterling Bank plc worth N58.948million; 23,795,441 shares of Transnational Corpora¬tion of Nigeria plc valued at N94.626million; and 20,422,937 shares of Con¬tinental Reinsurance plc valued at N21.450million.
