The new production is a 65-minute play, written and produced by Ozi Okoli and directed by Ifeanyi Eziukwu.

The story delves into the journey of a couple whose profound love is tested by the agonizing ordeal of infertility.

As they navigate through the tumultuous landscape of family expectations, societal pressures, and personal setbacks over the course of seven grueling years, their bond is put to the ultimate test.

Despite their unwavering devotion to each other, they find themselves grappling with doubts and insecurities, questioning whether love alone can conquer the formidable challenges they face.

Amidst the facade of outward appearances, they confront the harsh reality that things are not always as they appear, forcing them to confront their deepest fears and reevaluate their perceptions of themselves and each other.

Speaking at a command performance/media parley heralding the main show, Ozi Okoli, an award-winning presenter of Morning Show on Arise TV Lagos, who doubles as the writer and producer, described the playlet as a mother and son play and a must-watch because it mirrors the society, while revealing who we have become as a people.

Ozi, a Theatre Art graduate, also noted that the play is one of the products of his creative juices, being inspired during a residency programme, hence it is worth watching.

On his part, Eziukwu, the producer, noted that the play will live up to the expectations of the audience, considering that it is being presented by Just Theatre House, which is a thriving theater franchise and a member of a JT Play House.

As well, the theatre company has in the past nine years, produced many stellar productions such as:

‘Marriage Counselor, written by Tyler Perry;

‘Women of Owu’ by Professor Femi Osofisan;

‘Hard Ground’ by Professor Ahmed Yerima; ‘Lion and The Jewel’ by Professor Woke Soyinka; ‘Awolowo’ performed at the Lagos Theatre Festival in 2019 and 2020, among others.

Eziukwu noted further that the play would be performed by a stellar cast, which include; Seyisola Ogbonna, Richie Patrick, Pere Ere Sampson, Philomena Anoruo, May Okanigbe and Awesome Duru.

The cast members, according to him, are professionals, who have delivered on many theatrical performances and are part of the reasons to watch the play to appreciate their interpretation of the writer’s idea and delivering of the director’s expectations.

The play stages on May 5th, 11th, 18th, 19th, 25th and 26th by 5:30pm and 7pm at Terra Kulture Lawn on Tiamiyu Savage Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

There will also be a command performance on June 8, 2024 at Alliance Francaise Ikoyi, Lagos.

Meanwhile, considering the enthralling synopsis, the play director urges theatre lovers to visit and watch the play to discover if the couple will emerge triumphant against all odds, or if the threatening weight of their struggles will finally tear them apart, all amid comic relief.
