Michael Gambon an American actor who played the role of Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter films starting with the third installment, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is dead
In six of the eight Harry Potter films, he played Professor Albus Dumbledore, for which he was best known. He took over the role from Richard Harris, who played Dumbledore in the first two films. Gambon played Dumbledore in the remaining five films of the series, ending with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
The family of Michael Gambon said today that he passed away quietly in a hospital at the age of 82 after suffering from pneumonia.
This was stated in a statement made by publicist Clair Dobbs on behalf of his wife Lady Gambon and son Fergus Gambon, according to the Daily Mail.
The statement read, “We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon.

“Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82,” Dobbs said.
“We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love.’
