Meet Femi Ositade, a 17-year Nigerian who gained scholarships from 14 varsities

Oluwafemi Ositade is a 17-year-old student of The Ambassadors College, Ota, who recently secured full scholarships to study in 14 Ivy League and other prestigious universities in the United States, Canada, and Qatar.

The scholarship offers from these universities amounted to a total of $3,511,582 as the Ositade achievements underscore the plethora of opportunities available for Nigerian youths to thrive on the global academic stage.

Ositade’s feat has once again projected Ogun State, Nigeria as the hub of academic champions as his success adds to the illustrious history of academic excellence associated with the State.

Armed with these remarkable achievements and track record of excellence, Ositade received 14 scholarships from renowned institutions, nine of which are full-ride scholarships covering tuition, accommodation, allowance, and all other student expenses.

The 14 universities that have extended scholarship offers to Ositade are Harvard University, Brown University, Duke University, University of Toronto Lester B Pearson Scholarship, and Wesleyan University.

Others are Carnegie Mellon University, Qatar, University of Miami, Howard University, Stetson University, Fisk University, University of Toronto Mississauga Campus, University of Toronto St. George Campus, University of Toronto Scarborough Campus, and Drexel University.

Ositade academic prowess extends beyond standardised tests as exemplified by his performance at the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in which he scored 358, and ranked as the second-best in Nigeria for the year 2023.

Also, in the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), his results were among the highest in his school, boasting 8A1s and one B2.

His astounding success stems from his exceptional performance on the SAT where he achieved a perfect score in Mathematics (800/800) and a near-perfect score of 760 out of 800 in reading and writing and his Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.04/4.0 from college, in addition to his other academic and personal achievements.

He has represented his schools in local and international competitions where he has also proven his academic prowess with many laurels won by him and his schools.

With a strong passion for Quantum Computing and Mathematics, he intends to pursue a degree in Computational Physics, and he is poised to make significant strides in his chosen field.

Reacting to his feat, Ositade said these feats couldn’t have been possible without his zeal and the preparatory efforts of his alma mater.

According to him, the school’s structured academic programme that blends British and Nigerian curricula equips students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel on both local and international platforms.

He further said that the school offers classes and specialised courses such as SAT, IELTS, and A-levels, that ensure that students not only achieve stellar academic results but also position themselves for coveted scholarships in Ivy League universities.

Upon receiving the life-changing news of his acceptance to Harvard, Brown, Duke, and other prestigious universities, he attributed his achievements to God almighty which has been the bedrock of his success.

While he navigates the plethora of options before him, Ositade remains committed to selecting the institution that best aligns with his academic pursuits and future goals.
