Amotekun: Osinbajo holds crucial meeting with SW Governors today

Osinbajo denies receiving N4bn from Magu, says report “false”

As controversy continues to trail the creation of Amoteku in the south West, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will this afternoon meet with Governors of the South West, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting is expected to hold after the National Economic Council NEC which the Vice President is also currently presiding over at the old banquet hall at the presidential Villa.

It is not immediately clear what the meeting will achieve coming less than 24 hours after the National leader of the All Progressive Congress APC , Bola Tinubu Spoke on the issue in Lagos.

But BusinessDay Presidency sources said the Vice President was directed by President Muhammmadu Buhari to covey federal government’s apprehensions over Amoteku creation, following complaints raised by some groups especially the Miyetti Allah group.

The meeting scheduled for 3 pm today, is expected to be attended by the Governors of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun and Lagos.

The creation of Amoteku, a local Vigilance security arrangements by the South West Governors is said to have emboldened other regions to mull establishment of similar initiatives to counter prevailing security challenges occasioned by kidnappings, banditry, and sundry criminal attacks in their domains.

Osinbajo is currently presiding over the NEC meeting being attended by some traditional rulers, including the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
