Cross River State committed to elimination of tetanus – Betta Edu

Betta Edu, director-general, Cross River State Primary Healthcare, says Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State is committed to the elimination of tetanus troubling residents of the state in recent times.

Edu stated this during an advocacy visit to the state commissioner of education, Godwin Ettah,on event of the maternal neonatal tetanus elimination week, which took place last week.

She said the governor was committed to the elimination of tetanus in the state as the state geared up to another round of Maternal Neonatal Tetanus Elimination.

Ayade is one governor in the country who committed to ensuring that there was increased quality of life for the people, as he takes pain to deliver almost his campaign promises, she said.

In her words, she said,

“By the grace of God, the governor has delivered almost all the promises he made to the people and so determined to do more with our agency in collaboration with your Ministry and our development partners”.

“We need you to grant us access to persons within the age limit that are still in school as well as advocate to the Obolopon of Ugep, since Yakurr is among the 12 LGAs where the activities will take place.

“This administration will continue to support maternal neonatal tetanus elimination and elimination of other diseases that have increased neonatal mortality. We strive to make tremendous impacts on women and children; we implore the people to take full advantage of this intervention package,” she said.

The director-general maintained that the Agency’s visitation to the Ministry of Education was to seek support and collaboration to intimate school Principals and students about the second round of MNTE Exercise eligible to students from 15 to 49 years, stressing that the exercise was to help in the elimination of neonatal tetanus.

The exercise will take place in 12 LGAs across the three senatorial districts beginning from March 27 – 31, 2019.

In his remarks, the commissioner of education, Goddy Eta, charged health workers in the state to be committed to their duties for the upliftment of the state.

He assured the Agency of his support to the exercise by promising to ensure that all schools were open for health workers, stressing that ‘’a child that is healthy will live a super healthy life, and will perform exceedingly well in school.”
