Buhari defeats Atiku, wins presidential poll in Ogun by 87,107 votes

President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has defeated Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential election held in Ogun state on Saturday.

The final results of the Presidential election released in Abeokuta, State capital on Monday at the Presidential election collation centre located at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Headquarters showed that President Muhammad Buhari polled 281,762 votes as against Atiku Abubakar who scored 194,655 votes, leading with 87,107 votes.

The results released by Ogun State Collation and Returning Officer, Prof. Joseph Afuwape, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) showed that the registered votes stood at 2,336,887; number of accredited voters was 613,397; total votes cast were 602,938 and total valid votes were 564,256, while the total rejected votes were 41,682.
