Bisi Sotunde gets recognition for leadership, nation-building

Olabisi Sotunde, managing director, BusyBee Group, was among distinguished Nigerians who were honoured recently for their sterling leadership qualities and positive impact on nation-building.

Sotunde had the award presented to her in Lagos by Afolabi Phillips, publisher of Elitist Media and organiser of the award in commemoration of Nigeria’s 60th Independence.

Sotunde, who has a background in Chemical Engineering, and later event planning, is now, by this award, enlisted into the Elitist Media Hall of Fame.
The entrepreneur is a trained facilitator in events management, entrepreneurship and business development.

The event coach is also the convener of an annual gathering of event professionals tagged ‘BusyBee Event Business Summit.’

She offers her expertise as a volunteer and international mentor for the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN Nigeria), Tony Elumelu Foundation, Cherie Blair Foundation Road2Growth for Women and WIPA New York.

She said that through her Event Academy, she has trained, mentored and coached over 900 event professionals in the industry. She runs a large online community/tribe network with members cut across the nation and internationally.

She is a recipient of the GoldMan Sachs scholarship and Cherie Blair Foundation Road to Growth at the prestigious Pan Atlantic University /LBS, among others.

She is a fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants, Nigeria, and a member of International Live Events Association (ILEA Nigeria chapter), Association of Professional Party Organisers and Event Managers of Nigeria (APPOEMN), and Association of Event Vendors in Nigeria (ASSEV).

Her contributions to the industry was recognised when she won the award as mentor of the Year from the Association of Event Vendors (ASSEV) of Nigeria. She was also recognised as a Global Mentor of the Year by Alimosho Event Vendors Association (AEVA).

During the International Women’s Day Celebrations, she was recognised by Association of Party Planners and Event Management of Nigeria APPOEMN) as one of the female event professionals contributing to the growth and development of the industry.
