The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed that its online portal be the only source for candidates to check their 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.
The tertiary institutions entrance examination board made this known via its X official handle @JAMBHQ “Please, be aware that the only way to check the 2024 UTME result is by sending UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019 using the same phone number used to generate profile code, no result will be posted online.”
Before this directive, many candidates of the just concluded UTME have been parading results they either printed or sourced on their own.
However, some Nigerians are not comfortable with the JAMB making the online portal the only avenue for result checking. Some were already declaring their results as the highest score without the ranking examination board authenticating such.
Ibn Ibn Zubair @olat087 responding to the directive from JAMB tweeted, “Why must this be the only way? You are practically extorting students and it is very bad of Oloyede and his people. This is unacceptable and uncalled for. Even the DE candidates are being maltreated. Some are going there more than 6 times. Oloyede you can do better.”
Musawir Raji @AdulMusawir wondered how candidates who no longer have access to their phones would be able to navigate their way around this.
“There are people that don’t have access to their phone and their lines are being sold already by the network providers, how do you expect them to get their result?”
But Olamilekan Olatomiwa @lekan2tommy wondered why a candidate would suddenly claim to have lost access to his or her phones just some weeks after registration with JAMB.
“Sold to who after how many weeks of using the phone to register for JAMB. The whole process of registration to examination and now the result is not up to three months and you said the network provider sold your line. Are you living in Mende where the government demolished?” he tweeted.
