World’s elite in Davos focusing on creating a more inclusive world

This year’s annual meeting of the World Economic Forum has kicked off in the Swiss alpine city of Davos and it will see the over 3,000 delegates focusing mainly on creating a fairer, more inclusive world.
The forum is launching its manifesto at the meeting to call attention to the need for businesses to pay fairer taxes, mount better labour practices and care more than just creating CSR budget lines in their annual expenditures.
Ahead of the meetings, Oxfam sent a wake up call to the leaders after it released a report which showed that the world’s 2153 billionaires hold more wealth than the rest of the people on the planet.
Delegates began trooping into the imposing Congress hall venue of the 2020 annual meetings as early as 8am to take part in some of the events holding before the formal opening of this year’s gathering.
Among the early sessions is one on foraging a sustainable path towards a common future, another on shaping the future of consumption and another on reducing wastes. They all are helping to shape the narrative of the forum’s organisers who are showing a strong commitment to shaping the world for positive outcomes.
US President Donald Trump will have an early outing this year, as he is billed to address the opening plenary in Davos.
Ahead of his arrival, security around the congress hall has been high, with checks of delegates who have to show their congress badges as they make their approach to the venue of the meetings.
