Three tech innovators get Naija N6m reward

Three tech startup innovators were recently rewarded N6 million in the maiden pitch competition by Naija Tech Brain.

Onyinye Okoh, founder of Norah, an online gift-giving platform, emerged overall winner of the pitch competition, receiving an N3 million cash prize.

Jennifer Esiaba, founder of 8mg Health, a health technology platform secured the second position with an N2 million cash prize.

While, Olaniyi Samuel, founder of Flourish, an education technology (ed-tech) startup came third, and received N1 million cash prize.

Sherry Pepple, founder and chief coordinator, of Naija Tech Brain, said the nationwide startup pitching platform remains committed to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of Nigeria’s tech ecosystem.

She also appealed for more support to help innovation and entrepreneurship thrive in Nigeria. “We are striving to create a platform where Nigerians can showcase their talents to make an international impact.

“We care about our founders and we are working with our partners to ensure they all have access to investment opportunities,” Pepple said.

Femi Adeluyi, national coordinator of the National Talent Export Programme, in a keynote address, highlighted Nigeria’s potential to emerge as a global innovation hub and urged attendees to develop an environment where creativity, risk-taking and adaptability are created.

Aletor Arebanmhen, MD of Rigo Microfinance Bank, delved into the intricacies of having ideas, building innovation and the ways innovative founders can develop, grow, and fund their innovations.

After a panel session of startup influencers and investors, the highlight of the competition was the presentations from the top 10 Tech founders, who had the opportunity to showcase their startups to judges, finance/ data experts and investors.

The gala night included a fashion show, comedy, music and special audience awards and recognitions for individuals who supported the project.
