Dangote refinery receives delivery of gigantic continuous catalytic regeneration reactor

For resident of Ibeju Lekki, it was a wonder to behold as engineers at Dangote refinery receives delivery of gigantic continuous catalytic regeneration reactor machine meant to produce 650,000 barrels per day of refined petroleum products to meet Nigeria refined petroleum products needs as well as export to other countries.

The component is one of the biggest in the world. It’s 95m high and weighs 703 tonnes. For comparison, the Space Shuttle was 56m tall and typically weighed 110 tonnes at lift-off. An A380 is 73m long and weighs about 560 tonnes on take-off.

“Never underestimate the scale of Dangote’s ambition for Nigeria,” Carl Franklin, head of investor relations and corporate communications at Dangote cement said on his LinkedIn page after the delivery of the machine.

The completion of Dangote Refinery this year will mark another milestone in the Nigerian oil and gas industry as the $11 billion refinery hold the prospect of stopping of refined petroleum products by Nigeria.
